Happy New Year to you all. Hope the festive season was fun and you are now ready for a fresh start.
We always think “yes this year I will do something different. I will get a new job or new body or new hair....” the list is endless!
However rather than think about it or put it off just do it! Put pen to paper and start. This can be used for so many new ideas, if it’s to lose weight or change your appearance or even long overdue house projects.
I am a doer. I like to plan and know exactly what I need to do to achieve my goal. So here are a few pointers to get you started:
I use the SMART aim.
Specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time-bound.
No 1. What do you want to achieve? What is your goal? Is it a new job? Training? Weight loss? Be as accurate and specific as possible.
No 2. Write the goal down and the time-scale. Be realistic about this. Do not say I want to lose a stone in a week!
No 3. What do you need to achieve this goal? Do you need a CV to get a job?
No 4. How and where do you need help and support from?
Whatever you decide to do plan it as much as possible. Even if it is to yourself for now. Also give yourself small bite-sized goals. Do not give unrealistic goals as this will demotivate if you cannot achieve them.
Also reward yourself at each small goal achieved. Even small steps are better than no steps at all.
Give this plan a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Throughout 2014 I will be looking at more small steps to help you move forward such as building a personal statement, matching you to the right job and CV writing. However, if you would like specific information and help we can incorporate this into our articles. So just drop me a line at janineparry@women-scorned.co.uk.
