Hi there, my name is Georgina and I am a co-founder of Plutus Wealth Management. I help people manage their money and plan for their future. Many of my clients have ended up being female. There aren’t many female advisers in the industry and I found that many women preferred to talk to another woman about their finances.
By the very nature of having many female clients I have found myself talking to a lot of women about the financial implications of divorce and separation. At a very difficult and emotional time this can be additional pressure and stress. Finances can be complicated and scary to discuss. The main thing that I have found is that there isn’t really somewhere where you can look or someone you can talk to get free and impartial advice. So if you do not already have a relationship with an adviser then it is difficult to know where to turn and who to trust. When I heard about Women Scorned I thought it sounded like an amazing idea and exactly the sort of site needed to help women in this situation so I was very keen to see that there was a financial section available for you. I am extremely happy to offer my support, advice, case studies and answer any questions.
I am originally from Torquay in Devon and I was educated at Loughborough University where I gained a degree in Business, Economics & Finance. As a co-founder of Plutus Wealth Management one of my primary responsibilities is to head up the marketing and PR strategy for the growth and development of the firm.
In terms of my professional experience I have been in financial services since 2002. I built my client base quickly which lead me to being the first female partner in my previous firm by 2004. I set up Plutus in January 2009 along with 5 others and we have been gradually growing since then. Last year I was Young IFA of the Year and winner of the Value of Advice Ambassador in the Unbiased Adviser Awards. In 2013 and 2012 I was named in the ‘Top 100’ advisers in the UK. I have also been shortlisted for the FT New Breed Adviser awards in 2008 and 2009 in the Best Financial Planner Category and nominated for the Jaguar Women in the City award in 2009.
Outside of the office I play netball at National Premier League and I am the Chairwoman for Cumberland Netball Club. I have been a member of the club, coach and on the Committee, for over 10 years. I am a keen cyclist have spent many weekends cycling around the English countryside with friends ending the day at a good old country pub! In 2011 I was part of a team that cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats. I definitely enjoy an adventure or two and on recent trips I have enjoyed trekking and rafting around South America and Central and East Africa. In 2013 I managed to get to the summit of Kilimanjaro. I also enjoy Touch Rugby, Skiing, Duathlons and Rowing.
