I see individual clients and couples both within the NHS and privately. People come to me wanting to talk about all sorts of issues but most of the time they just feel "stuck" and want to move their lives in a more positive direction. They feel confused, anxious, low and generally very negative about themselves and their bodies. Of course, infidelity is an issue that comes through my door regularly and I work with couples who want to address this. Women who have been cheated on go through different stages of grief not dissimilar to those associated with bereavement: anger, sadness, confusion. There is also the question: “What does the future hold for me?”
Having been through a divorce myself I understand all too well the range of emotions. But we are all individuals and react in very different ways. My role is to help clients adapt to the emotional, practical and financial aspects of their new situation and to help them feel good about themselves. This includes identifying their needs and facing issues such as dating and becoming sexual again.
