"There is something about the song The Sound of Winter that makes me just want to stop and listen over and over again. It seemed that they were playing it just for me."
Are there songs which keep swirling around your head? Something that starts and won't go away or something that you keep playing?
There was a period of a few weeks when I kept hearing Bush on Planet Rock. There is something about the song The Sound Of Winter that makes me just want to stop and listen over and over again. It seemed that they were playing it just for me.
I wondered what it was that captivated me so?
The words are magical and resonate with me on many levels. To me they are about finding myself, being true to who I am and proud to be me.
“You’ve got to hang onto yourself”, pulls my emotions, stretches them out far in front of me exposing my soul.
“It’s like the sound of winter” talks to me of how bleak and yet how beautiful it is finding yourself.
“Let’s walk through the fire together” asks me to be grateful for those that are with me in love willing to take their chances and to support each other no matter what.
The song reaches me in other ways. I look at the YouTube video and I want to be young and free again and live a heady sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle. I want to stand on the stage and sing. I want to be noticed for me. Not hidden away but loud and proud of who I am and what got me here.
Harness these songs and words and notice over time how different songs speak to you and why.
What are you playing today? What lyrics can’t you get out of your head? Do the words mean anything to you?  When you look at the video what do you see? What should you be noticing about you and your thoughts?
Whatever that song is go and Google the lyrics, take one line and then start writing. Let's see where it takes you.
Being grateful to your more
Yes, you did read that correctly: being grateful. OK you may not think that you could but one of the stages of getting over anything in life is looking at what you can learn from it.
Fake it until you make more
Sometimes life gets in the way of what we want. Sometimes we are so focused on getting somewhere we forget who we really are and what we are passionate about.
